Lisa from girl group BLACKPINK has been selected as a advertising model for P&G Downy, a global consumer goods brand, drawing keen attention.
According to her agency YG Entertainment on May 13, Lisa has signed a contract to become an advertising model for P&G Downy fabric softener products in China.
She has also signed a new advertising model contract with one of China's largest dairy brands and is set to shoot an advertisement soon.
"In addition to the two companies, Lisa is receiving more and more love from various industries in the Chinese market," YG Entertainment said.
Lisa's craze in China is not anything unusual. Lisa has captivated the continent as a member of the world-class girl group BLACKPINK. It is said that her global popularity, unique dance skills, bright and lovely images, exotic features, and original fashion sense have made her the talk of the town and a role model for young Chinese people.
In particular, Lisa has been receiving great acclaim for her appearance as a dance mentor on the survival show 'Youth with You 2', which is being aired on the famous Chinese platform iQIYI. After every week's 'Youth with You 2' broadcast, the idol's name always rules the top spot on Weibo's real-time search keyword list.
Attention is also being paid to whether Lisa's move will serve as a stepping stone for K-Pop stars to reopen the Chinese advertising market.
Earlier, G-Dragon, a member of boy group BIGBANG, an artist from the same agency as Lisa, signed an advertising model contract with mainland Chinese brand Chapai. It was the first time since 2016 that a famous Chinese mainland brand has publicly promoted a Korean Wave star as a local advertising model. And now, Lisa opened the door as a K-pop female artist.
