Kim Bum has joined the cast of tvN’s upcoming drama “The Tale of Gumiho” (working title)!
On April 10, tvN confirmed that Kim Bum would be appearing in the fantasy drama alongside Lee Dong Wook and Jo Bo Ah. As the actor was discharged from the military just last month, “The Tale of Gumiho” will mark his highly-anticipated return to the small screen and his first drama in over four years (Kim Bum last appeared in a drama in 2016, when he starred in SBS’s “Mrs. Cop 2“).
Described as an “urban fantasy melodrama” “The Tale of Gumiho” will tell the story of a male gumiho (a mythical nine-tailed fox) who has settled in the city (played by Lee Dong Wook) and the fearless producing director (PD) who is determined to hunt him down (played by Jo Bo Ah).
Kim Bum will be playing the role of Yi Rang, the half-brother of Lee Dong Wook’s character Yi Yeon. Described as the most dangerous gumiho there is, Yi Rang harbors a deep contempt for humans despite living amongst them. He occasionally seduces humans by promising to grant their wishes, for which they ultimately end up paying a hefty price.
The producers of the upcoming drama commented, “Kim Bum, who is returning to the small screen after four years, will be making a shocking transformation through his acting in ‘The Tale of Gumiho.’ As Kim Bum possesses both tenderness and strength amongst his charms, please look forward to his portrayal of the gumiho Yi Rang.”
“The Tale of Gumiho” is currently scheduled to premiere sometime in the second half of 2020.
