YG Entertainment has briefly responded to reports regarding BLACKPINK’s Lisa’s exclusive contract.
On July 12, Munhwa Ilbo reported that there is a high chance that Lisa will be leaving the agency following the expiration of the BLACKPINK members’ exclusive contracts in August. Munhwa Ilbo reported that although Lisa and YG have been discussing her contract renewal, they have not reached an agreement.
The news outlet further added that according to industry representatives, the contract renewal processes for the remaining three members have gone smoothly in comparison.
Furthermore, an anonymous Chinese agency reportedly told Munhwa Ilbo, “We discussed Lisa’s appearance [on the show] while coordinating with YG and Lisa’s schedule, but it was conveyed [to us] that it is difficult to arrange scheduled activities after August as their contract renewal with Lisa is uncertain.”
In response to Munhwa Ilbo, a source from YG Entertainment clarified, “[The uncertain scheduling] is due to the tour schedule as well as her individually scheduled activities. It has nothing to do with the contract renewal.” YG added, “Contract renewals are currently under discussion.”
Currently, BLACKPINK is partaking in their “BORN PINK” world tour.
