On Dec. 22, a particular Twitter user, @drewscotty, made a post that appears to be hinting at a possible performance of "Psycho" with all five Red Velvet members on the stage. The post reads, "*****!! Wendy said it's on and poppin!!" and it includes "#pscyho" and "OT5."
As expected, ReVeluvs (Red Velvet's biggest fan club) find the post and left comments, with some fans thanking him for the information, while others want more details about it and asked whether it's real or not? Other fans asked who he was, and so he took the time to answer fans' questions, introducing himself as the producer of "Psycho." He also shared with them that he plans on working with the girl group again to produce more songs.
While most fans considered his post true, some fans think the one who made the post is only clowning them. Red Velvet's management agency, SM Entertainment, is yet to confirm the matter.
Meanwhile, in case the post turns out to be valid, the five-member performance of "Psycho" will be Red Velvet's very first stage featuring all five members, Irene, Joy, Seulgi, Yeri, and Wendy. The girl group has been performing "Psycho" at various music shows and events as a quartet ever since it was released on Dec. 23, 2019. Red Velvet's Wendy was unable to promote the song with her bandmates as she had an accident on Dec. 25 during rehearsals for 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon, where she sustained injuries to her face and fractures in her wrist and pelvis.
"Pscyho" is described as an uptempo urban pop song that has a melody line swiftly changing from time to time, as well as a catchy hook. Its lyrics tell about a couple that argues so much that they seem crazy in the eyes of other people but are nonetheless meant for one another. Moreover, it is the title track of Red Velvet's repackaged album "The ReVe Festival: Finale."
Upon its release, Red Velvet's "Psycho" instantly became a fan-favorite and some fans even claim that it is the song of the year when it was launched in 2019. The song also received positive reviews from music critics as according to them, the song features a "smooth and sultry" delivery over a "haunting" and "catchy yet structured" production. In fact, it was cited as one of the best K-pop releases in 2019 in numerous year-end lists by critics.
Other than that, Red Velvet's "Psycho" was a commercial success in South Korea, achieving both "real-time all-kill" on domestic major digital charts and "certified all-kill" on iTunes digital charts. It also stayed at No. 2 on Gaon Digital Chart for three consecutive weeks. The track also obtained international achievements, topping Billboard's World Digital Songs chart and becoming the first entry of the girl group on the UK Singles Downloads chart.
Furthermore, the music video for "Psycho" becomes the fastest MV of Red Velvet to reach 100 million views in just over three months, two days, and seven hours.
