These girl groups are some of the most successful in South Korea, and they have the certifications to prove it. The nine groups and duos on this list were all certified Platinum for streaming (100,000,000 streams), downloads (2,500,000 downloads), or both.
1. BLACKPINK
BLACKPINK’s June 2018 song “DDU-DU-DDU-DU” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 5 months after release and achieved Platinum download certification after 10 months. This makes “DDU-DU-DDU-DU” the fastest girl group track to officially be certified Platinum after its release.
Companion track “Forever Young” also has two Platinum certifications, receiving its streaming certification 21 months after release and its download certification after 18 months.
Plus, BLACKPINK has three Platinum-certified albums (Square Up, Kill This Love, and Special Edition: How You Like That) as well as one Million certified album (The Album).
2. Red Velvet
Red Velvet’s January 2018 song “Bad Boy” was awarded Platinum download certification 27 months after release.
December 2019 track “Psycho”, meanwhile, achieved Platinum streaming certification 11 months after release.
3. TWICE
TWICE has three songs with Platinum certification on Gaon. Their July 2018 release “Dance The Night Away” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 8 months after release and achieved Platinum download certification after 14 months.
November 2018 track “Yes or Yes” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 9 months after release and achieved Platinum download certification after 15 months.
Finally, TWICE’s April 2018 song “What is Love” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 19 months after release and achieved Platinum download certification after 28 months. This makes TWICE the girl group with the most Platinum song certifications in South Korea.
TWICE also has six Platinum-certified albums (What is Love?, Summer Nights, Yes or Yes, Fancy You, Feel Special, and Eyes Wide Open) and one Double Platinum-certified album (More & More).
4. MAMAMOO
MAMAMOO’s March 2018 song “Starry Night” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 8 months after release and achieved Platinum download certification after 16 months.
Their November 2019 track “HIP” was also certified Platinum for streams 12 months after release.
5. ITZY
ITZY’s February 2019 song “DALLA DALLA” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 9 months after release, making them the fastest girl group to achieve Platinum certification after debut and the only girl group to have their debut song Platinum-certified.
6. Oh My Girl
Oh My Girl’s April 2020 song “Nonstop” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 11 months after release.
7. MOMOLAND
MOMOLAND’s January 2018 song “BBoom BBoom” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 7 months after release and achieved Platinum download certification after 18 months.
8. Bolbbalgan4
Former duo Bolbbalgan4’s May 2018 song “Travel” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 6 months after release and achieved Platinum download certification after 11 months.
Their April 2019 song “Bom” was also certified Platinum for streams 14 months after release.
9. Davichi
Davichi’s May 2019 song “Unspoken Words” was awarded Platinum streaming certification 11 months after release.
