The “rumored couple” G-Dragon and Jennie have a lot in common
On the morning of February 24, Dispatch reported that G-Dragon (BIGBANG) and Jennie (BLACKPINK) had been dating for the past 1 year and the couple mainly met in G-Dragon‘s penthouse.
This couple’s dating rumors especially attracted the attention of fans because both are the most prominent members from current famous Kpop groups, and both are famous fashion icons in the world.
In terms of popularity, both have had successes in both the Korean and international music market. However, in terms of studying, the two got into many controversies, even being accused of cheating, leading to being boycotted by Korean netizens.
Since he was a high school student, G-Dragon (real name: Kwon Ji Yong) soon showed an artistic talent. He was described as a sociable, lively student and was loved by his friends.
In 2009, he enrolled at Kyunghee High School, but for various reasons, the male singer no longer attended the school. In March 2010, he enrolled in the Department of Sports and Entertainment at Cyber International University. He was 22 years old at that time.
Cyber International University has the advantage that all courses can be taken online, which is perfect for idols who are busy with overseas tours. In August 2013, GD earned 140 credits of online learning. Kwon Ji Yong graduated from International Cyber University at the age of 25 and by the age of 28, the male idol was awarded a doctorate.
However, Dispatch once announced that the study time helped G-Dragon delay his enlistment. GDragon’s delaying enlistment is not against the law. His education-related issue, however, became a contentious issue in Korea, as many people are outraged that celebrities are treated differently in terms of military enlistment.
Meanwhile, Jennie (BLACKPINK) was also criticized as she only finished high school. Jennie was born in Seoul, attended Cheongdam Primary School before moving to New Zealand at the age of 9. There, Jennie attended ACG Parnell College International School – a luxurious school with sky-high tuition fees.
After finishing the school program, Jennie returned to Korea to participate in YG’s audition. At that time, Jennie was only about 14 years old. In 2010, Jennie attended Chungdam High School, a school in Gangnam, Seoul, Korea.
The fact that Jennie did not study up, but dropped out to enter YG as a trainee once made netizens underestimate the educational ability of this BLACKPINK member.
