The best part about it is that it allows fans to reminisce about the good old days when the Hallyu wave had just started taking over the world.
Here are some second-generation K-pop artists who either made recent comebacks or are returning soon with new music!
1. 2AM
It seems like forever since we’ve last seen 2AM together. Their last release as a group was “Over The Destiny” back in 2014. Recently, the members’ agencies positively stated that there is a possibility for the group to reunite for a comeback. This would be quite a nostalgic walk down memory lane for their fandom “I am.”
2. 2PM
It looks like nostalgia’s going to hit 2PM’s “Hottest” fandom very soon as well. The group has confirmed their plans to make a comeback in late June. This comes after all members have completed their military service. They are now all present to bring new music to the table after their last full-group release in 2016.
3. G-Dragon
Ever since G-Dragon was discharged, all eyes have been on him in anticipation of his comeback. Following a report, YG Entertainment has commented that he was working on new music in November 2020, but there is no release date in sight. Fingers crossed for the idol to bless us with a release before the end of 2021!
4. Highlight
Highlight has made their official comeback as a full group about a month ago with “Not The End.” Grateful for going back in the spotlight, the members exude hopefulness and energy in their newest release, where they state loud and clear that they are here to stay.
5. CNBLUE
Following a long hiatus, CNBLUE has risen to the challenge of revamping their musical style as a trio. The members made a comeback with the mini-album “RE:CODE,” following the directions they discussed together as a team. Needless to say, the outcome is literal music to our ears. Check out their latest title track below!
6. SHINee
Having repackaged their “Don’t Call Me” release into “Atlantis,” the latter marks SHINee’s latest comeback as OT4 following Taemin’s enlistment on May 31. The maknae left the fans one final gift through his mini-album “Advice.” Hopefully, we’ll see the quartet reunited again soon enough!
7. CL
CL’s first full studio album is one of the most anticipated music releases in the K-pop industry. Originally planned for release in November 30, the album was postponed so that the artist can further improve it. Unfortunately, she lost her mother in late January and released a farewell track in her memory. No news of her comeback have resurfaced ever since.
8. Super Junior
There is not a dull moment with Super Junior. The group has been pretty active for 17 years and counting despite having some of the members serving in the military. Now that they’re all back, their music releases are going stronger than ever. And let’s face it, no one knows how to throw a “House Party” like Super Junior!
9. IU
Another idol who has been thriving as a soloist for years is IU. Her most recent album is “LILAC,” with which she topped music charts both domestically and internationally. If you’re familiar with her music, you know that every achievement she makes is well deserved.
10. Oh My Girl
Given that most second generation girl groups have disbanded, it is heartwarming to see that Oh My Girl is still releasing music and snatching awards! Their latest comeback with “Dun Dun Dance” is such a mood maker, and it can easily become an earworm.
11. HyunA
HyunA’s music has always been vibrant, daring, and colorful. The artist stays true to herself to this day and seems to be even more free and content after joining P NATION. Also, the best thing about her comebacks is that she always brings something new to the table. “I’m Not Cool” is but one example!
