RADIO.COM Announced BLACKPINK as 'Artist of the Year' + Celebbrate #BLACKPINKDay

Deemed as "The biggest girl group in the world," BLACKPINK was hailed as 2020's "Artist of the Year" by RADIO.COM!

In particular, on Jan. 9, Saturday, BLACKPINK's official Twitter account announced the new title that the quartet received, honoring them as last year's Artist that shined the most.

In particular, RADIO.COM, music, sports, podcast, and news outlet announced the result as well on their website, honoring both BLACKPINK and BLINKs, its fandom for the support it gives to the group to secure their spot as No. 1.

Last year, the all-in-one digital radio service held an online poll, choosing 32 artists from different genres and fields of music to compete round by round.

After defeating 31 artists and winning five rounds, BLACKPINK was officially named as "Artist of the Year" of RADIO.COM.

Meanwhile, in commemoration of winning, RADIO.COM also informed K-pop enthusiasts that on Jan. 10, Sunday, #BLACKPINKday will happen to celebrate the idol group's achievement with global fans!

Along with this news, an acceptance and video-greeting from BLACKPINK was also posted on their official Twitter account, BLACKPINK said, "We thank you for all the BLINKs who vote for us to become RADIO.COM 2020 Artist of the Year."

The four-member group also invited their fans to celebrate #BLACKPINKday, wherein RADIO.COM dedicates Twitter for BLACKPINK all-day.

BLACKPINK Successful 2020 -- Expectation for Their 2021 is High

Last year was truly a fantastic year for BLACKPINK, despite the K-pop scene experiencing hardships due to coronavirus.

After their hiatus for over a year, BLACKPINK warmed up their fans with a collaborative song, "Sour Candy" with international pop star Lady Gaga. Following this release, they flaunted a new image with "How You Like That," which choreography MV earned a new feat as the first K-pop group to surpass 500M views on YouTube.

Furthermore, the second pre-release track, "Ice Cream," with Selena Gomez also helped them to establish their music in the U.S. market fully, debuting No. 13 on the U.S. Billboard "Hot 100."

Aside from these, the group also released their much-awaited first full-length album, "THE ALBUM," which became one of the "Best Album of 2020" as selected by multiple media outlets and give them the title for "First Million-Seller Korean Girl Group" with 1.2 million cumulative sales with only 1 album.

As they showcased outstanding 2020, fans' expectations for their 2021 career is also high. Recently, Lisa and Rosé were reportedly releasing their debut albums, while Jisoo is also preparing for her debut K-drama, "Snowdrop" where she will play the lead role. Meanwhile, Jennie is making noise in the commercial industry, as the new "Chum Churum" Soju model, succeeding Suzy.
