“Produce 101” Lee Ji Han Confirmed To Have Passed Away In Itaewon Incident

Actor and former “Produce 101 Season 2” contestant Lee Ji Han has been revealed to have passed away during this weekend’s Itaewon tragedy.

On October 30, Lee Ji Han’s agency 935 Entertainment confirmed, “It’s true that Lee Ji Han passed away due to the accident in Itaewon on October 29.”

The representative of the agency continued, “We also hoped that it wasn’t true, and we were very shocked to hear the news. The family is suffering immense grief right now, so we are being very cautious. May he rest in peace.”

The news of Lee Ji Han’s passing first reached the public when several of his castmates from “Produce 101 Season 2,” including Park Hee Seok, Kim Do Hyun, and Cho Jin Hyung, took to Instagram to share the tragic news.

They wrote, “Ji Han has left this world and gone to a comfortable place. We ask that you say goodbye to him on his final path.”

Lee Ji Han, who first entered the spotlight as a contestant on Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2” in 2017, made his debut as an actor in the web drama “Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day” in 2019. He was 24 years old (by international reckoning) at the time of his passing.

On the night of October 29, at least 151 people died—with many others injured—after being crushed in a large crowd during Halloween celebrations in the Itaewon neighborhood of Seoul.

We offer our deepest condolences to Lee Ji Han’s friends and family during this painful time. May he rest in peace.
