Kpop Radar has said: "IU ranked second in the music video views count in May and achieved several records, Youtube subscribers, and Instagram followers have reached 3 million and 14 million. That's the reason for selecting her as the Artist of the Month".
Single "Eight", which drew much attention through the collaboration between IU and one of the top artist BTS Suga, surpassed IU's previous record. The music video for "Eight" has had 10 million views at about 15.3 times faster than "Blueming", which was released last year, and surpassed 50 million views within 21 days of its release, achieving its shortest record.
In addition, on IU's birthday on May 16th, the daily number of views which had been decreasing since its release increased slightly from the previous day. Thanks to the increase in the number of views, "Eight" has made it to the second spot on the monthly Youtube chart.
IU's Instagram followers continue to rise. Kpop Radar said, "In May, her official Instagram followers increased by almost 1 million people, 178% increase from the previous month. This seems to be due to the large jump when 'Eight' was released".
