Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran, And Moon So Ri Confirmed For New Drama
Based off a webtoon, “Jeong Nyeon” (romanized title) is set in the 1950s and tells the story of Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a young girl from Mokpo who has no money or education but is born with a talented singing voice. The historical drama follows the happenings that occur when Yoon Jeong Nyeon joins a women’s traditional theater company to achieve her dreams of becoming rich.
Kim Tae Ri takes on the role of Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a pansori (Korean genre of musical storytelling) prodigy who moves to Seoul to become a member of Korean Traditional Woman’s Opera.
Shin Ye Eun plays the role of Heo Young Seo, who has solid skills in singing, dancing, and acting as well as a rich family background and forms a rivalry with Yoon Jeong Nyeon.
Ra Mi Ran, who led the drama “The Good Bad Mother” to great success, raises anticipation for the new drama by taking on the role of Kang So Bok, the leader of Mae Ran Korean Traditional Woman’s Opera who has a charismatic and straightforward personality.
Lastly, Moon So Ri, who impressed through the drama “Queen Maker,” will portray Yoon Jeong Nyeon’s mother Seo Yong Rye, who used to be called a genius pansori singer but buries her splendid times after retirement and raises Jeong Nyeon all alone.
“Jeong Nyeon” is set to kick off filming in September with a goal to premiere in 2024. Stay tuned!
