IU and EXO Baekhyun dominate Gaon Monthly Chart for May
Singer IU made a strong presence on the Gaon Chart in May. Meanwhile, Baekhyun from boy group EXO was ranked No. 1 on the monthly album chart.
The Korea Music Content Association, which operates the Gaon Chart, announced on June 11 that IU's 'eight' (Prod.&Feat. SUGA of BTS) won the honor of topping the digital chart, download chart and streaming chart in May. On the monthly album chart, Baekhyun's 'Delight - The 2nd Mini Album' ranked first with 660,826 album sales.
BLACKPINK topped the monthly social chart 2.0, which provides an intuitive view of artists' global popularity. The artist who made the biggest rise on social charts in May was NCT DREAM.
In the week from May 31 - June 6, Jeon Mi Do's 'I Knew I Love' topped the digital chart and the streaming chart, while TWICE's new album 'MORE & MORE' and the title track of the same name topped the album chart and download chart.
In the Gaon-certified album section, NCT DREAM''s 'Reload' received Double Platinum certification, while EXO Suho's 'Self-portrait' and GOT7's 'DYE' received Platinum certification. In the streaming category, Paul Kim's 'Every Day, Every Moment' received Triple Platinum certification, while his 'Me After You' received Double Platinum certification.
The other songs that got Platinum certification in the streaming category are Lauv's 'Paris In The Rain', M.C The Max's 'One Day Only', Bolbbalgan4's 'Bom', IU's 'Blueming', Changmo's 'METEOR', Gummy's 'Remember Me' (OST 'Hotel Del Luna'), and Noel's 'Late Night'.
