In the evening of February 24, Chanyeol unexpectedly posted a letter to his fans on Lysn, the platform where EXO's official fan club resides. The idol apologized to his fans, as well as thanking them for waiting for and standing by him. This is also Chanyeol's first interaction with fans after a long time.
Below is the full text of his message.
"Hello, this is EXO Chanyeol.
EXO-L, it's been a while since I talked to you.
First of all, I want to apologize to EXO-Ls for making you guys worry for a long time. I'm sorry if I cannot express everything in my heart through these words.
I always think of EXO, of EXO-Ls. For a long time, I have considered what to write and how to write to you.
I received many encouraging messages and letters from you last year and I am really grateful. As I read each letter, each of those messages, my grateful and sorry heart grew heavier and heavier.
EXO-Ls, I will not let you worry again and will always remember to protect your precious hearts, in return for the love you have given me. And I will do my best to show that your trust in me is not wrong.
Time has passed, but you remembered the day when I first made a public appearance and celebrated my 9th anniversary. I sincerely thank everyone. I remember that first appearance 9 years ago and will never forget it. I will never forget my first moments. I will always cherish the great love you give me.
EXO-L, please take good care of your health. Thank you so much. "
In October last year, a netizen claimed she was Chanyeol's ex-girlfriend. She then accused Chanyeol of having cheated on her with over 10 girls for 3 years. Along with the post, she also unveiled photos that she claimed to be her time together with Chanyeol. Regarding the controversy, SM Entertainment made an unprecedented announcement, saying they didn't have an official position, which shocked both EXO-Ls (EXO's fandom) and the K-Pop community.
