The official fandom name of new boy group ENHYPEN, which is preparing for their debut this year, has been confirmed as 'ENGENE'.
ENHYPEN announced the group's official fandom name 'ENGENE' through a video posted on the global fan community platform Weverse at 2 PM on October 9. 'ENGENE' means that fans are an important drive for the growth and development of the group ('ENGENE' is pronounced as 'engine'), as well as that fans share their genes (GENE) with the members, to connect, discover and grow together.
ENHYPEN said, "From now on, we hope ENGENE and ENHYPEN will support each other and become a great team. Let's make good memories in the future," showing off their extraordinary love for fans.
The global interest in ENHYPEN was also proven through the fandom name contest. About 67,000 fans applied for the five-day event from September 20 to 24.
ENHYPEN decided the name for their official fan club themselves among the nominees. Fans who get to the final selection will be given a group's polaroid photo taken by ENHYPEN members.
ENHYPEN is a new boy group under BELIFT:LAB, a joint venture between CJ ENM and Big Hit Entertainment. The group has seven multinational members coming from Mnet's survival show I-LAND, including Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunwoo, Jungwon and Niki. Global fans are looking forward to the debut of ENHYPEN, which is said to happen by the end of this year.
