BTS V has officially claimed not only one but two Guinness World Records after setting new fastest times to reach particular numbers of followers on Instagram.
BTS V Now Holds Two Guinness World Records Relating to Instagram Followers
On Dec. 6, all seven BTS members launched their personal accounts on Instagram, which were all verified by the platform.
BTS V in particular took the lead in terms of follower count, immediately gaining one million Instagram followers up to 10 million followers in only a short period.
On Dec. 13, Guinness World Records confirmed that BTS member V had broken the world records for the fastest times to hit one million and 10 million Instagram followers.
According to them, BTS V's Instagram account racked up one million followers in just 43 minutes and gained 10 million in only four hours and 52 minutes. The "Butter" singer broke the previous record of one hour and 45 minutes to reach one million Instagram followers set by NCT Taeil (@mo.on_air) this past July.
As of writing, BTS V's Instagram account has more than 25.6 million followers. It has only been eight days since it was launched, so the number is expected to increase in the following months. The other six members of BTS have over 20 million followers each on their personal Instagram accounts.
Even though these are the first world records attained by V in 2021, it's not the first time that BTS broke a record this year. The septet currently holds the Guinness World Record for the "most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours" (108,200,000 views) and the "most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group" (108,200,000 views), both of which were obtained by their English hit "Butter."
Moreover, BTS' "Butter" also broke the world record for the "most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube" (3,900,000 views) and the "most viewers for the premiere of (any) video on YouTube" (3,900,000 views).
Further, "Butter" has become the "most-streamed track on Spotify in the first 24 hours" (11,042,335 streams). With these five new achievements and their 18 previous records, BTS now has a total of 23 world records, which earned them a spot in the 2022 Guinness World Records Hall of Fame. Congratulations to BTS V!
