BTS's "Butter" Officially Breaks Five Guinness World Records
On May 25 local time, the Guinness World Records announced that BTS had officially set five new world records, broken by their recently released digital single, "Butter."
According to the Guinness World Records, the all-English song had broken the record for the most viewers for a premiere of a Youtube video, with "Butter" having more than 3.9 million concurrent viewers on its release on May 21, 2021, at 1 pm KST.
Besides breaking the record for the most viewers on a premiere of a Youtube video, which Youtube themselves have confirmed, BTS also broke the record for the most viewers for a premiere of a music video on Youtube, breaking the group's previous record held by their first all-English song, "Dynamite," released on August 21, 2020, which had more than 3 million concurrent peak viewers.

As of this writing, BTS's "Butter" music video has more than 229.9 million views and more than 15 million likes after just six days since its release.
In addition, the superstar group also broke the record for the most viewed Youtube video in 24 hours, with "Butter" accumulating more than 108,200,000 views in that time frame, simultaneously breaking the record for the most viewed Youtube video by a K-Pop group in 24 hours.
Of course, BTS also broke records on the major music streaming platform, Spotify. According to the Guinness World Records, "Butter" accumulated 11,042,335 global streams in just a day after the song went live, breaking the record for the most streamed song on Spotify in the first 24 hours.
With that, "Butter" beat Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber and English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran's collaboration song, "I Don't Care," by 64,946 streams.

Their achievements don't stop there. Spotify also confirmed another record broken by the seven-member group. As of April 27, 2021, BTS's overall music has been streamed more than 16.3 billion times on Spotify, making them the most streamed act (group) on the platform.
According to Spotify, BTS's singles, "Dynamite" and "Boy With Luv" featuring Halsey, are their most streamed songs on Spotify, with more than 829.7 million and 642.6 million streams, respectively.
Coldplay, a British band, previously held the record with more than 16.1 billion streams as of April 27, 2021, now taking second place behind BTS, followed by Imagine Dragons as the third most-streamed act with more than 15.7 billion streams. But rapper Drake holds the overall title with more than 37.9 streams on Spotify.

With their latest achievements, this brings BTS's number of Guinness World Records to an amazing 23, making the group one of the most successful music groups in Guinness World Records history.
Besides the Guinness World Records, BTS is also tied with Fifth Harmony for the most awards won by a group at the Nickolodeon Kids' Choice Awards, each having five wins.
