BTS Jimin's 'Filter' Gets Outstanding Feat on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales Chart
BTS Jimin's "Filter" continues to rank high on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart even after it has been months since it was released last year.
Last Feb. 21, 2020, BTS's fourth studio album titled "Map of the Soul: 7" was released consisting of a total of 20 songs, including the solo track "Filter," which was sang by Jimin. This single tells a meaningful story about the idol's thoughts, perspectives, and life experiences. Even though he was not credited for writing its lyrics, BTS Jimin was the one behind its concept.
According to the singer, "Filter" is something that is not only a feature of a camera or social media applications, but it can also mean people's perspective or prejudice. He added that he used those meanings and put them together in a song like the way he wants to present himself to the world.
Upon the release of BTS Jimin's "Filter," it has been setting major records on various music platforms and charts. In particular, the song is doing really well on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales Chart. For this week ending on Jan. 16, Jimin's "Filter" claimed the No. 5 position. This marks the song's 34th week in the top 10 of the said Billboard chart, breaking the record for the longest Korean solo track on the ranking, within the top 10.
In addition, "Filter" becomes the highest-charting among the Asian solo tracks on the World Digital Song Sales Chart, including B-sides singles, for this week although it went two places down from last week's position at No. 3. Also, for this week, the song is the second highest-charting on the chart out of all BTS songs and the first out of all the solo tracks of the boy group.
What's more, since the day BTS Jimin's "Filter" was issued, the song has been charting on the Billboard chart. This week is the song's 44th week overall, becoming the longest Korean solo track to stay on the ranking.
In October 2020, "Filter" topped a total of 110 iTunes charts, setting an incredible record as the song becomes the highest-charting BTS solo track and overall B-side track in history on iTunes worldwide.
On Jan. 11, the solo track surpassed 118 million streams on Spotify, the world's largest music site. It also recorded 116 million streams on Jan. 5 and more than 2 million in just a week. It is still being streamed around the world even after 10 months of release.
On the same day (Jan. 11), BTS Jimin's other solo tracks, "Serendipity" and "Lie" exceeded 18 million and 128.45 million streams on Spotify, respectively. With all three singles surpassing 18 million streams, the idol becomes the first Korean artist to achieve the milestone.
On Jan. 13 and 15, Jimin's "Filter" ranked first both on the digital music and international categories on Amazon Music, the largest e-commerce platform in the United States. It entered the "Movers & Shakers" category as well, claiming the No. 26 position.
