The awards ceremony, which was held on January 9 and 10, gave honors to various artists that showcased excellence in the music field last year. Among the K-pop artists and groups that received awards, BTS and BLACKPINK's achievements wrote new records.

BTS Becomes First Artist to Have Most Daesang+ Most Bonsang From 'GDA'

The global group BTS sets the first record during the two-day awards ceremony, after winning five Daesangs in a row for the fourth consecutive year.

In particular, this year marked the fourth time BTS won "Album of the Year" or Disc Daesang, along with a digital Daesang they brought home last year -- making it five in total.

Due to this, BTS becomes an artist with most-Daesang, and the first group to earn the award five times in a row, not to mention that they achieved this as well in a short period of time. Furthermore, BTS also won the most Bonsang trophies in the history of "GDA."

BTS defeated the "Emperor of Ballad" Shin Seung Hoon, who was the former title-holder with 10 Bonsang trophies. The seven-member group succeeded the singer as they won a total of 11 Bonsang trophies.

Just three months after, BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" is the first album in the history of "Golden Disc Awards" to receive both main prizes (Bonsang) and grand prizes (Daesang) in digital song and album divisions.

The quartet during the ceremony took home, "Best Album" (Bonsang) and "Album of the Year" (Daesang) Awards through "THE ALBUM," as well as "Best Digital Song"(Bonsang) and " Song of the Year" (Daesang) with "How You Like That."
