BLACKPINK, NCT, And SEVENTEEN Receive Official Million Certifications From Gaon Chart; TWICE, TXT, And More Get Platinum

Gaon Chart has finally revealed its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association deploy a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming. Begin with music released on or after January 1, 2018, Gaon Chart now certifies albums platinum when they reach 250,000 sales, while albums that have sold a million copies or more will receive a “million” certification.

On December 10, Gaon Chart announced that BLACKPINK’s first full-length album “THE ALBUM,NCT’s second studio album “RESONANCE Pt. 1,” and SEVENTEEN’s special album “; [Semicolon]” had all received official million certifications because over a million copies each were sale.

Meanwhile, TXT’s “minisode1: Blue Hour” and TWICE’s “Eyes wide open” were both officially certified platinum after selling over 250,000 copies each.

When it comes to the downloading category, Yang Da Il’s “Sorry” and Jannabi’s “For Lovers Who Hesitate” all received platinum certifications because they've got 2.5 million downloads each, while Jang Beom June’s “Your Shampoo Scent in the Flowers” (from the OST of JTBC’s “Melo Is My Nature“) was certified double-platinum after reaching over 200 million streams.
