BLACKPINK Jennie Dominates YouTube by Going 'SOLO'

Jennie of BLACKPINK broke the YouTube record of the "First Best" by a Korean female solo artist.

On August 9, YG entertainment stated that Jennie's song "SOLO" music video exceeded over 700 million views on YouTube at 3:50 KST on the same day. It has been a total of around 2 years and 9 months since its release last November 12, 2018.

BLACKPINK also announced in their official Instagram account that Jennie's "SOLO" music video has exceeded 700 million views.

In the post, a photo of Jennie's celebration of achieving 700 million views together with another photo that captured the number of YouTube views were also published.

"SOLO" music video recorded over 100 million views just a few days after its release. It has been breaking its own record by steadily increasing the number of views. In August just seven months after reaching more than 600 million views in January, the number of the digits changed once again.

Jennie's "SOLO" got a lot of attention from fans worldwide when it unraveled the beautiful code at the beginning of the music video. It is a concise melody line, and also the dignified idea of not being held by sadness even after leaving with straightforward and candid lyrics.

"SOLO" is a song released in November 2018. It is a very impressive song with a beautiful chord at the beginning and it also has an addictive melody line. Also at the time of its release, it ranked first on several domestic music charts. This ignited the start of a successful BLACKPINK solo project.

'SOLO' Debut Ignites other BLACKPINK solo projects

When the song was released, it placed the top spot for real-time, daily, and also weekly charts of the major domestic music sites. It achieved the purported "perfect all-kill".

Aside from that, while taking the number one spot on iTunes in over 40 countries, she became the first ever Korean female solo artist that time to top the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart and she topped the US iTunes Top 10 list.

There are a total of 29 billion-view videos of BLACKPINK and some of them belong to Jennie's "SOLO" MV.

BLACKPINK's YouTube channel has over 63.8 million subscribers. It is ranked first among different female artists all over the world. The gap with the overall No. 1, Justin Bieber - he has 64.6 million subscribers - is approximately 800,000.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK celebrated their 5th debut anniversary by communicating with fans globally last August 8.
