Some song titles are straightforward, and some… not so much. So, ARMYs are debating the correct pronunciation for BTS songs and albums.
One of the first titles debated was HYYH.
2015’s The Most Beautiful Moment in Life era, or “Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa” (HYYH) launched what we now know as The BTS Universe (BU). The official name “The BTS Universe” wasn’t given until 2017.
Some might pronounce HYYH as “H-Y-Y-H,” simply sounding out the alphabet. But considering it’s short for “Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa,” the correct pronunciation has become a hot topic.
Likewise, ARMY brought up “DNA,” which should be a no-brainer, but…
The most divisive song is “134340.” ARMYs just can’t seem to agree…
ARMYs even attempted to consult NASA! They had recommended Jin‘s “Moon” and after getting NASA’s attention, they decided to ask about the correct pronunciation of “134340.”
Yet, one of its songwriters, RM, already pronounced it before in a live broadcast. So, what is there left to debate?
Some foreign language titles like “Jamais vu” seem like a valid conversation, but even it has been low-key jokey.
ARMYs are even coming for BTS’s first EP and its intro: O!RUL8,2?. There should only be one way to read this, but apparently, that’s not true.
What’s a BTS song you’re unsure of pronouncing?
