Besides their real names, many idols use a stage name to bring a different feeling, express their own personality or the things that the company wants to convey through them. However, not all names are unique enough to be easily searched on Google. Recently, a YouTube account has found out the 20 K-Pop idol names that really messed up the search engine - the reason why many people cannot easily search for them is because their names are too common words.
V (BTS) and D.O. (EXO) must be among the idols you are thinking about at the moment. And yes, they are here! But let's find out where they are on the rankings.
If the stage name of an idol is unique, the results Google shows will usually be them with their images displayed on the first page. A name will be even more optimal if it does not include numbers and special characters. Idols with such names will have a lower number of search results - because there will be less irrelevant topics getting involved.
A good stage name for Google, for example, is Woozi (SEVENTEEN) or Suho (EXO). Just type their stage name without adding the group name, Google still returns the correct results, because it is difficult to be confused with other English words.
The top 20 below is based on the following criteria:
- Only idols with a stage name different from their real name are counted (Jin (BTS) or Seohyun (SNSD) will be excluded).
- We only search with their stage name, without including additional keywords like 'K-Pop' or the group name
Ranking is based on the number of results Google returns. The higher the result (usually billions), the more likely it has been accompanied by other related English words.
No.20: TAG (GOLDEN CHILD)
