Created by director Lee Byung Hun of “Extreme Job” and “Melo is My Nature,” “Dream” tells the story of a group of people playing soccer for the first time for the Homeless World Cup. Park Seo Joon stars as Yoon Hong Dae, a professional soccer player on disciplinary probation who becomes the coach of the ragtag soccer team, while IU plays producing director Lee So Min who is making a documentary about the team.
Other cast members include Kim Jong Soo, Go Chang Suk, Jung Seung Gil, Lee Hyun Woo, Yang Hyun Min, Hong Wan Pyo, Heo Joon Suk, and Lee Ha Nee.
“Dream” wrapped up filming on April 13, nearly two years after filming started in May 2020. COVID-19 caused the movie to delay filming in Hungary, which led to the extended filming period. Director Lee Byung Hun commented, “Including filming overseas, this result was created by great efforts over a long period of time. I am so thankful and proud of the actors and staff who endured this process.” He continued, “I will also work hard on post-production to complete a film that can successfully relay our intended message to viewers.”
On the final day of filming, Park Seo Joon remarked, “The long journey of ‘Dream’ finally ends today. It is a bit sad now that it is ending, but I am very thankful that we were successfully able to complete filming. I hope moviegoers will give it lots of love.”
IU shared, “This was my first time filming a feature-length film. I think I will remember [this movie] for a long time as I made even more memories than any other project.” She concluded, “It was also a good experience for me personally as I felt myself becoming more bright and carefree when acting as So Min. I hope moviegoers will smile a lot with ‘Dream’ and also feel the film’s warmth.”
“Dream” is set to hit theaters after completing post-production.
