New MBC drama “Can’t be Bothered to Date, But Don’t Want to be Lonely!” (literal title) held its first script reading!
The drama will be a romance story about youths residing in a co-living house who want to be in relationships but don’t want anything too serious and who want freedom but don’t want to be lonely. It is set to be a realistic portrayal of people in their twenties and thirties as they navigate through life and love.
In addition to scriptwriter Jo Jin Gook and director Lee Hyun Joo, actors Ji Hyun Woo, Kim So Eun, Park Gun Il, B1A4’s Gongchan, Son Ji Hyun, Kim San Ho, Cha Soo Yeon, Noh Ji Hoon, Ha Young, Son Ji Hyun, Han Ji Wan, and more were present at the reading.
Ji Hyun Woo will take on the role of the psychiatrist Cha Kang Woo. With his sweet manner of talking and silly expressions, Ji Hyun Woo skillfully portrayed his character who is known to be charming for his unpredictable nature.
Kim So Eun will be playing the role of freelancing copy editor Lee Na Eun who hasn’t dated for the last four years. Lee Na Eun will be relatable to women in their twenties and thirties because she’s the type of character who won’t give up on her dreams despite facing the difficulties of reality. Kim So Eun led the script reading with her lovable charm, making viewers anticipate her new character even more.
Furthermore, the two actors showcased realistic chemistry while portraying their characters due to Ji Hyun Woo’s skilled portrayal of Cha Kang Woo’s heart-fluttering scene and Kim So Eun’s realistic response as her character begins to fall for Cha Kang Woo.
In addition to the two main leads, the drama also stars Park Gun Il, who will play Lee Na Eun’s close friend Kang Hyun Jin. Partaking in the love triangle with Ji Hyun Woo and Kim So Eun, Park Gun Il made hearts flutter with his friendly personality. Gongchan also used his warm gaze to portray his character Jung Hoon, a bodyguard who is in charge of VIP clients. Furthermore, Kim San Ho will play the affectionate Kim Dong Suk, and Noh Ji Hoon will play flight attendant Ji Hoon.
Son Ji Hyun skillfully portrayed the cute and charming personality of Lee Na Eun’s close friend Han Ah Reum, and Han Ji Wan took on the role of the plastic surgery consultant Choi Kyung Won, who is known for her extravagant looks and simple charm. Furthermore, Ha Young will depict the honest and confident charms of her character, Korean-American Jeon Bo Ra, and Cha Soo Yeon will play the brainy Jo Ji Ah.
Throughout the refreshing first script reading, the set was full of laughter, and the actors worked with great passion to immerse themselves into their roles.
“Can’t be Bothered to Date, But Don’t Want to be Lonely!” is set to air in the second half of 2020.
