Following the conclusion of “Memorist” on April 30, Jo Sung Ha spoke about the drama and his co-stars Yoo Seung Ho and Lee Se Young.
“Memorist” is based on a webtoon of the same name and is about a detective named Dong Baek (Yoo Seung Ho) who has supernatural powers. He teams up with elite criminal profiler Han Sun Mi (Lee Se Young) to track down a serial killer. Jo Sung Ha played Lee Shin Woong, a deputy chief with a dark secret in his past.
To portray Lee Shin Woong, Jo Sung Ha regularly had to maintain a very strict poker face. When asked which scene was most difficult and memorable to film for this reason, the actor picked the scene where Dong Baek accuses Lee Shin Woong of being The Eraser.
He explained, “I had to maintain my poker face so that all the moments leading up to this accusation could flow out. Through this development, I feel that viewers also thought Lee Shin Woong was The Eraser. Since this development transitioned well into the scene where I reveal, ‘Dong Baek, The Eraser is not me, it’s you,’ I think both the audience and I were able to immerse into this scene the most.”
He also spoke about his chemistry with co-stars Yoo Seung Ho and Lee Se Young. Jo Sung Ha shared, “Both Yoo Seung Ho and Lee Se Young are impressively prepared actors. I am thankful to these two actors for showing a never-ending stream of energy while filming.”
The actor continued, “Yoo Seung Ho is an innocent, humble, and cool man, as well as a good actor. Lee Se Young is an actress constantly overflowing with cheerfulness. She has a personality that always warms up the mood on set. It’s regretful that we couldn’t be in more scenes together. If the opportunity arises, I hope to meet them again. Please give lots of love to Yoo Seung Ho and Lee Se Young.”
Jo Sung Ha continued with his praise for Yoo Seung Ho when discussing his most memorable scene. He shared, “During the scene where Dong Baek is accused of being The Eraser, Yoo Seung Ho left a great impression. After scanning Lee Shin Woong’s past, Yoo Seung Ho was overwhelmed with emotion and had to portray bloodshot eyes that looked like they were about to pop out. While watching that on screen, I felt that he was an actor who worked hard for authenticity. Yoo Seung Ho left a deep impression on me filming that scene.”
Lastly, the actor shared, “I want to thank viewers for being with us from start to finish. Filming ‘Memorist’ was always fun and happy. I hope ‘Memorist’ will last as a good memory in everyone for a long time, and I will work hard to meet you again with a good project. Thank you.”
