Jo Jung Suk volunteered to take a pay cut on behalf of the tvN drama “Hospital Playlist.”
On May 5, a media outlet reported, “Jo Jung Suk voluntarily reduced his appearance fee of 90 million won to 100 million won (approximately $73,800 to $82,000) per episode to 70 million won (approximately $57,400) per episode. He is placing significance on his participation in ‘Hospital Playlist’ itself.”
Insiders from the drama industry explained, “As the No. 1 actor for casting in dramas, Jo Jung Suk usually receives around 90 million won to 100 million won per episode. But due to his trust in producing director Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung, he voluntarily reduced his appearance fee. This kind of actor is really rare and he’s becoming a great role model on set.”
They continued, “It’s rare to see an actor of Jo Jung Suk’s brand power voluntarily taking a pay cut. He’s a really great, loyal actor.”
After debuting in the 2004 musical “The Nutcracker,” Jo Jung Suk has appeared in many dramas including “The King 2 Hearts,” “You Are the Best,” “Oh My Ghostess,” “Two Cops,” and “Don’t Dare to Dream,” and the films “EXIT,” “Intimate Strangers,” “My Annoying Brother,” “The Face Reader,” “Architecture 101,” and “Hit-and-Run Squad.”
Jo Jung Suk has been recognized for his outstanding acting skills and charming characters in each of his projects. His wide acting spectrum from the sly Nap Deuk in “Architecture 101” to the cranky but warmhearted Go Doo Shik in “My Annoying Brother” has allowed viewers to get immersed in the stories.
The actor married singer Gummy in October 2019 and announced they’re expecting their firstborn in January.
