"Summer Guys" will be directed by Heo Chan, who was the director of Netflix drama "My Runway" and the assistant director on Bong Joon Ho's "Snowpiercer".

He shared: "The casting fits the characters so well it’s like the actors popped out of the script. I hope that this lineup can continue into Season 2."

According to him, "Summer Guys" is described as the Korean version of "Coyote Ugly" and "Cocktail" with the major theme about youth, dancing and music.

The drama's set is on Jeju Island with the production staff working with a local hotel to build a real cocktail bar that can be used as the real bar background after the filming finishes. As scheduled, the filming will begin on August 20.

The production company also revealed: "Due to word-of-mouth about the script and production, a Chinese remake of the drama is already in the works even though the original is not yet complete. We plan to use this content IP (intellectual property) in the OSMU (one source, multi-use) format so that the drama can have multiple seasons and spin-offs. We will work hard to fulfill the viewers’ expectations for ‘Summer Guys,’ which will be available through OTT (over-the-top) [streaming] services worldwide."
