Leader of boy group MONSTA X Shownu has underwent an emergency surgery for his left eye after being diagnosed with retinal detachment.
His agency Starship Entertainment announced the situation on their official Twitter account on July 3. Below is their official statement.
"Hello, we're Starship Entertainment.
We would like to inform you about Shownu, a member of our artist MONSTA X.
Shownu was undergoing an ophthalmological pre-examination for his Lasik surgery scheduled for July 2, and he was getting a thorough examination following a finding that there was something wrong with his retina.
As a result of the examination, he was diagnosed with 'left-eye retinal detachment' and had to urgently undergo an operation this afternoon because the operation was inevitable.
We will make efforts to let him quickly recover as the artist's health is our top priority, and we will notify you of the future schedule in consideration of the opinion of the specialist in charge and Shownu's recovery status.
We sincerely apologize for causing concern to our fans who love MONSTA X, and we will continue to do our best to take care of our members' health."
Earlier, MONSTA X was set to hold the online concert ‘MONSTA X LIVE FROM SEOUL WITH LUV’ to meet fans from all over the world on July 26 at 12 PM KST.
