Following his discharge from the military on April 7, BTOB’s Eunkwang participated in an interview with TV Report and talked about his future plans. He began the interview saying, “I was safely and healthily discharged thanks to Melody (BTOB’s fan club) who waited for me and supported me, and I’m very grateful.”
He shared, “It feels like I’m starting a second life. Like I’m being born anew. It’s slightly scary to return to society following two years of break, and although I’m fearful, I’m even more excited that I’ll be able to sing for many people and give happiness again. I love you all.”
When asked about the response from his members regarding his return, Eunkwang revealed, “Of course they congratulated me a lot, but as expected, they said, ‘You’re already discharged?’ saying that time flew by fast.” To Changsub and Minhyuk, who are serving in the army, he said, “Time seems to stop during military life, but when looking back, it’s surprising that I’ve already been discharged. Minhyuk and Changsub, you know what I’m feeling because you’re still experiencing military life, right? Nonetheless, I’m proud of you two for protecting our country! Just return healthy!”
On his future activities, Eunkwang shared, “I have to sing for Melody, and I want to participate in musicals and variety shows. After being discharged, I’m brimming with so much passion that I could even chew on iron, so I’ll run to wherever I’m called upon.”
Eunkwang wrapped up by saying, “Our lovely Melody, from the day before my discharge, I saw posts congratulating me and telling me that you have been waiting and are happy. I was so happy seeing the posts that it became a sleepless night. I’m sincerely thankful that you waited and sent support as if you all were really by my side during the long military life. I will return double the amount of gratitude I feel for everyone. I’m always thankful, and I love you endlessly, Melody.”
Eunkwang enlisted in the military back in August 2018 as an active duty soldier, and he proved to be an exemplary soldier by serving in the special forces after being assigned to Special Warfare Command. During his service, Eunkwang was also commended for his philanthropic actions of donating 20 million won (approximately $16,340) to relieve those affected by Gangwon Province wildfires of 2019, the same amount to the Korean Heart Foundation, and 10 million won (approximately $8,170) to the Korean Insulin Dependent Diabetes Association.
Having busily promoted through music shows, musicals, and variety programs before his enlistment, fans are highly anticipating his activities following his return. Furthermore, BTOB’s Changsub and Minhyuk are also scheduled to be discharged in August and September, respectively.
