BLACKPINK Overtakes Ariana Grande To Become Female Artist With The Most YouTube Subscribers.
On July 24, YG Entertainment announced that as of 8 a.m. KST, BLACKPINK had surpassed 42,300,000 subscribers on their official YouTube channel.
With this latest figure, the group has now surged past Ariana Grande (whose own YouTube channel currently has over 42,200,000 subscribers), Taylor Swift (who has over 38,500,000 subscribers), and Katy Perry (who has over 37,700,000 subscribers) to become the female musician with the highest number of subscribers on the platform.
YG Entertainment commented, “YouTube channel subscribers are one of the measures that objectively indicate an artist’s popularity and fame. In an age that is flooded with new content everyday, subscriptions to channel are often a result of a fandom’s loyalty and consistent interest, in addition to anticipation for [an artist’s] future content. Considering that YouTube plays a key role in effecting changes in the global music market, BLACKPINK’s new record is an extremely important indicator.”
Congratulations to BLACKPINK on their impressive new achievement!
