BLACKPINK has had a very successful couple of months, between their release of “How You Like That”, “Ice Cream”, “Lovesick Girls”, and their album drop! The girls were already very loved and popular, but they’re getting even more attention these days because of their success.

Lisa in particular has been getting a ton of attention and praise, and it’s well-deserved! Not only is she gorgeous, but she’s enormously talented as well, in rapping and dancing and a variety of other skills. Here are 7 facts that you might not have known about her, that will hopefully just make you love her even more!

1. She changed her birth name.

Many people already know that Lisa was born with the name Pranpriya Manoban, but changed it to Lalisa Manoban when she was still a child. The reason for this was because of a fortune teller! It’s actually not that uncommon in Thailand for people to change their names to rid themselves of bad luck, and she changed it to Lalisa, which means “one who is praised”. The name suits her perfectly!

2. She’s always been an incredible performer.

Even though Lisa’s childhood dream was to be a model, she was already a talented performer at a young age. She entered a singing contest called “Top 3 Good Morals of Thailand” as her school’s representative, and ended up winning 2nd place!

3. There are other skills she’s not as perfect at, though.

Lisa has openly admitted to not being the best cook, and that her best dish is ramen! Surprisingly, she has a step-father, Marco, who is actually a famous chef, but apparently he wasn’t able to pass on his skills to Lisa. That’s alright, though, because she’s plenty talented in all kinds of other things.

4. YG Entertainment has been impressed with her from the start.

Lisa joined YG Entertainment after auditioning for the company at a global audition in Thailand in 2010. Out of 4,000 participants, she came in 1st! During her 5 years and 3 months of training with the company, she was also the only BLACKPINK trainee who received all As in her trainee evaluation.

5. She has a half-dozen cats total.

Though Lisa has four cats living with her in her dorm — Lucas, Louis, Leo, and Lily — she also has two cats back home in Thailand as well (Hunter and Tiga). So in total, she has six cats, which shows how much she loves the feline species!

6. She was a first for YG Entertainment.

Lisa was actually the first idol to debut under YG Entertainment that isn’t Korean! She’s extremely multi-lingual as well, speaking her native Thai fluently along with Korean, English, and Japanese.

7. She has many friends in the K-Pop industry.

Lisa is extremely friendly, outgoing, and humorous, which has allowed her to make a lot of friends! Some of her most well-known idol friends include GOT7‘s BamBam (who she actually used to dance with in Thailand), NCT‘s Ten, CLC‘s Sorn, 2PM‘s Nichkhun (all of whom are also Thai), and Somi.

Hopefully you learned something new about this talented idol!
