Ahn Bo Hyun recently participated in a photo shoot with W Korea to talk about how he reacted to his sudden rise in popularity, his new drama, and more.
And here is the interview with 'Itaewon Class' star Ahn Bo Hyun:
Do you realize the sudden popularity? I was mostly at home except for the fitness center. 'Cause Corona 19 made me rarely get around outside. It was amazing that there were one or two people who recognized me when I was exercising with a mask on, but there was no other way to realize it. I was surprised to see an increase in Instagram followers and YouTube channel subscribers.
How much has it increased? Instagram followers were originally 250,000 but now 1.35 million. The number of YouTube subscribers has increased from 4,000 to 260,000.
When was the turning point in Bo Hyun's life? When you twisted the neck of a chicken in Itaewon Class? Or when you beat Sehun with Dalgona 400 times in "I Live Alone"? In "Lee Taewon Class", some scenes were abandoned by his father, and he first appeared in prison with black hair, not blond hair. I made my own preparations. When I came out as a high school student in the early days of the play, I purposely gained weight and gradually lost weight, showing emotional changes. Of course, everything was lucky.
What do you hear the most these days? "When you turn on TV, you will see you there. (laugh)".
Ahn Bo Hyun mentioned that fame hasn’t seemed to change him. He explained, “I hear people say to me, ‘This guy is the same even when I see him after months have passed.’ But I do think that people should change as time goes on.” He then added, “I don’t know what I need to do to change myself.”
Have you ever had such a hard time Ahn Bo Hyun? In the past, I bought products for 2+1 events and daily necessities worth 1,000 won at Daiso. But it wasn't hard enough to eat three meals of ramen (laughs). I'm thirty-three now. It's always been on my mind that I couldn't give my allowance to my house as the eldest son.
Ahn Bo Hyun also responded to time on “Ask Us Anything” when he talked about working part-time jobs at construction sites even after his role in the drama “Descendants of the Sun.” He said, “I wasn’t working because I didn’t have money. I need to exercise on days that I don’t film anyway, so I thought that working would be my exercise.”
Jang Geunwon's role in Intaewon Class is so strong that he must have thought hard when deciding on the next character. How did you end up with "Kaeros"? At the end of "Itaewon Class", several scripts came in with a call saying, "I want to have a meeting." One of them was 'Kaeros'. Someone told me I shouldn't play a villain in a row, and someone advised me to play a melodrama now. I didn't pay much attention. Since when have I been an actor who chooses works? I wanted to work with the one who wants me, so I decided to do 'Kaeros'. The synopsis was of course fun, and when I met director Park Seung Woo, I was convinced that "people" would remain through this work.
When you were a boxer, you were such a promising player that he even won a gold medal at a national competition as the representative of Busan Metropolitan City. Would you have become a world-class player if you continued? I don't think so at all. Boxing is a really hard exercise. At that time, I exercised because of the benefits of physical education at high school. I couldn't put pressure on my house because there would be prize money if I won a prize.
I heard that there was a surge in male fans in 'Bravo Hyun'. What's the reason? Because men do a lot of things they like. Because I like old cars and bikes, flying drones, and drinking. It's all about achieving what you wanted to do at a young age. When I see direct messages, there are many stories such as "I'm going to buy an old car," and "I want to travel around the country on a motorcycle like you."
It would be a story of being a role model for someone. What kind of actor do you want to be? I want to work for a long time. I love it the most when I’m working. I have to live repaying the people whom I owe.
Lastly, is there any TMI about the security situation that is revealed only in this interview? I can't drink coffee. I eat chicken breast because of my physical condition, but I don't really like it. When you eat a sea squirt, you swallow it without spitting it. (Laughs) I hate the smell of cigarettes, and when I eat spicy and hot things, I sweat like rain. So I can't eat spicy noodles well.
