Alex Rodriguez proposed to Jennifer Lopez during a romantic getaway to the Bahamas in March of last year.
But due to COVID-19, the Hollywood couple have 'postponed' their planned summer nuptials after 'struggling for weeks over [the] decision,' a source told E! News on Thursday.
The 50-year-old singer and the 44-year-old former professional baseball player - who began dating in 2017 - had originally planned to carry out their highly anticipated wedding in Italy.

'Guests have recently been notified that the wedding will not be happening in late summer as anticipated.'

Though their plans have been thwarted by social-distancing and mandatory lockdowns, the source claimed the pair are hopeful that they will 'have the wedding of their dreams when the timing is right.'
During her appearance at Oprah's 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus Tour in Los Angeles, Lopez said for herself that she is not worried about semantics when it comes to the timing of her wedding to Rodriguez.

'[Alex is] like, "Whatever you want to do, we can talk about it." I said, "But if we're going to be together for the rest of our lives, what is the rush?"'
She added: 'If that's what we're really going to do, if we're really going to be partners.'
Rodriguez joked about having a 'drive-through wedding' during a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon after him and Lopez had held a 'drive-through party' for his 12-year-old daughter Ella.
'What was great is we had a drive-through party. And then some people said maybe we have a drive-through wedding. It will be cheaper!'
Jennifer announced her March engagement to Alex on Instagram by sharing a slew of professional photos taken during the happy moment.
Alex got down on one knee in the sand as a shocked Jennifer, donning all white, looked down at him with her hands covering her mouth.
In celebration of their engagement anniversary on March 9, Alex penned a sweet note to Lopez on Instagram.
Jennifer also showed off the hefty engagement ring she received, which is estimated to be between 10 and 15 carats and worth in the range of $1 to $5 million, according to Town & Country.
'One year ago on a beach in the Bahamas…. I was a nervous wreck, more nervous than my entire playing career, I got down on one knee and asked you a question… you said yes,' captioned the MLB star.
Prior to her joyous engagement to Rodriguez, the On The Floor singer was married to fellow musician Marc Anthony, 51, from 2004 until 2014.
The former couple amicably co-parent their 12-year-old twins, Emme and Max.
Rodriguez shares two children of his own, daughters Ella, 12, and Natasha, 15, with ex wife Cynthia Scurtis who he divorced back in 2008.
All four children have been hunkering down with Lopez and Rodriguez at their lavish estate in Miami, Florida.
