Lady Gaga confirmed to hold a fundraising event called 'One World: Together at Home' with a list of big celebrities, which will be broadcasted on many popular US and worldwide networks, including online platforms. What a coincidence, BTS also confirmed to hold their online concert for fans on the same day.
Upon learning of this concert by Lady Gaga, many ARMY (BTS' fans) expressed their displeasure that the 'Born this way 'singet was intentionally plotting against their idols.
Lady Gaga will coordinate with Global Citizen, WHO to organize a concert with the participation of many famous artists such as Chris Martin, John Legend, David Beckham, Elton John, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Shawn Mendes… and Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert will host the show. SuperM from K-Pop also joins the big event.
This is a program to encourage the community to stay at home to fight the pandemic and raise funds to support patients with COVID-19. The 8-hour show will be broadcasted on April 18 on many US television channel such as ABC, NBC, CBS. This event is also livestreamed on influential global social platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Tencent, Tencent Music Entertainment Group, Yahoo, …
Meanwhile, Big Hit announced a short time ago that they would hold a BTS concert and fan meeting via their official YouTube channel, called 'BANG BANG CON', which would be released on April 18 and 19. The whole program will be shown for free, which is a gift that BTS members want to give to fans around the world when as they couldn't participate in a live event due to the influence of COVID-19.
For some ARMY members, the event would be very meaningful and there would be no debate if it was not confirmed to be held on the same day as BTS's online concert on April 18. The online concert was the first time that BTS gave fans a dense and live broadcast on the boys' YouTube channel.
Many BTS fans expressed their displeasure at the event organized by Lady Gaga - they said that this was a hopeless effort of Western artists to intentionally overwhelm BTS's reputation. Some ARMYs even gathered to try to trend hashtag "BTS event only" on Twitter, so that no one would know about Lady Gaga's 'One World: Together at Home'.
It can be seen that the war between fandoms never stops, but BTS fans who can support their idol can also support Lady Gaga's meaningful event, right?
