On May 9, Sports Seoul reported that Woollim Entertainment CEO Lee Jung Yeop has transferred the trademark rights for the name “INFINITE” over to leader Kim Sungkyu without any conditions or fee for his birthday as he conveyed his support for INFINITE’s future activities to the members.
Additionally, according to KIPRIS (Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service), the trademark rights to the name “INFINITE,” which were first registered by Woollim Entertainment in 2010, have all now been transferred to INFINITE Company as of April 2023. The trademark rights to the group’s fandom name “INSPIRIT” are also listed under INFINITE Company.
On the same day, INFINITE’s side confirmed the news, stating, “CEO Lee Jung Yeop gladly handed over the trademark rights saying he’s cheering for the members’ future. CEO Lee has had a great affection for INFINITE since our debut and we once again realized that.”
Similarly, a representative from Woollim Entertainment commented, “To my knowledge, CEO Lee happily transferred the trademark rights [for INFINITE] on Sungkyu’s birthday.”
The representative added, “CEO Lee and INFINITE [members] still maintain a close relationship with each other beyond the relationship of an agency [CEO] and its artist. They still have an especially tight relationship to the point that INFINITE [members] still attends [Woollim’s] company dinner and CEO Lee’s birthday party even now.”
Debuted in June 2010 under Woollim Entertainment, all six members of INFINITE had since parted ways with the agency. Nam Woohyun, the final member to part ways with the agency, left Woollim Entertainment after 14 years in October 2022 and recently signed a contract with Jflex Entertainment. In May, it was reported that INFINITE has established their own agency INFINITE Company with Kim Sungkyu as the company representative. On May 6, INFINITE launched new social media channels and announced that they will hold a live YouTube broadcast on June 9 at midnight KST to celebrate the group’s 13th debut anniversary.
