Here’s What The Current And Former Members Of MBLAQ Are Up To After Seven Years
MBLAQ debuted in 2009 under J.Tune Camp, a subsidiary of J.Tune Entertainment, which was founded by first-generation solo-artist Rain.
With Rain as their mentor, the group’s debut was highly anticipated, and they didn’t disappoint with their hard-hitting and catchy debut song “Oh Yeah,” along with their ab-baring music video in 2009.
The group consisted of five talented members, leader Seungho, Mir, Joon, G.O, and Thunder. They actively promoted as five until 2014, when Joon and Thunder left the group, and the remaining three members released MBLAQ’s eight and final mini-album in 2015.
Though the group has not formally disbanded, they have been inactive since 2015 after mismanagement by their company.
Here’s what the members have been up to recently!
1. Seungho
In 2017, it was announced that Seungho signed with Will Entertainment, where he pursued a career in acting. He completed his military service in 2019 and has been active in musical theatre, appearing in Love in the Rain from 2016-2017, Another Miss Oh in 2020, and this summer, he appeared in the musical Volume Up.
2. Mir
MBLAQ’s Mir has been open about his time in the group in multiple interviews since the beginning of their hiatus, revealing in 2019 how much money he made as an idol and what he was doing to continue earning money.
He currently has a YouTube channel with his sisters, Bang Hyo Sun and actress Go Eun Ah, which they frequently update.
3. G.O
MBLAQ’s G.O debuted as a broadcast jockey on AfreecaTV in 2018 and steadily gained an impressive following, earning over $25,000 USD in his first week.
He frequently streams with his wife, actress Choi Ye Seul, and has chronicled their relationship through their live broadcasts.
4. Joon
Since leaving MBLAQ in 2014, Joon has continued his acting career, which he began before his debut with MBLAQ, landing a lead role in the Netflix Original The Silent Sea and the tvN and Netflix historical drama Bulgasal: Immortal Souls in 2021. This year, he starred in the KBS2 historical drama Bloody Heart.
5. Thunder
Thunder, also known as Park Sung Hyun, joined Mystic Entertainment to continue his music career in 2015 but left in 2018 to start his own label, Lighthouse. In 2019, he opened a YouTube channel, which he regularly updated with content such as vlogs and dance covers. His videos have since been made private.
Thunder has recently become more active on his Instagram account and has posted photos of himself in the recording studio, hinting that new music may be in the works!
