On the February 3 episode of JTBC’s “Knowing Bros” (“Ask Us Anything”), all five members of (G)I-DLE made a group appearance as guests.
During the show, Yuqi opened up about a rule that she and Minnie had come up with due to a specific incident from their trainee days.
“Now that we’re in the seventh year of our career, I think it’s time for us to talk about this kind of thing,” said Yuqi. She then explained that back when she and Minnie had first come to Korea and joined Cube Entertainment as trainees, they had been roommates.
“We were extremely close,” recalled Yuqi, and Minnie agreed, “There were no secrets between us.”
Yuqi went on to share that back then, she had been interested in a specific guy. “There was someone I was in contact with,” she said. “But one day, while Minnie was drying her hair or something, a KakaoTalk message popped up on her phone. And it was that guy’s name. I’d never heard anything about Minnie being in contact with him, so I wondered, ‘Oh? Is he also talking to Minnie?’”
“After feeling nervous about it for a while, I couldn’t hold it in any longer,” continued Yuqi, “so I asked Minnie about it. I asked her, ‘Are you talking to that guy?’ and she said, ‘You too?’”
Shuhua interjected from the sidelines, “He’s trash!”
Minnie recalled, “For the first time, things became really awkward between us.” Yuqi added, “We both felt very guilty, since we hadn’t known about each other. So we decided on the rule that when we became members of the same group, we wouldn’t like the same person, no matter what.”
Jeon Soyeon added that they had later extended the rule to include all the members of (G)I-DLE, revealing, “Now, we tell each other as soon as we start talking to someone.”
