It is only the first week of August 2021, and yet numerous artists have already dropped new musical releases and are heating up the charts! From Jeon Somi's "Dumb Dumb" to ASTRO's "After Midnight," here are some of K-pop's hottest releases this week.

1. Jeon Somi - "Dumb Dumb"


Jeon Somi made her much-anticipated comeback a year after "What You Waiting For" with "Dumb Dumb" on August 2!

The song, which Somi helped co-write, sings about the heart of a teenage girl trying to appear herself to her crush. Within 24 hours, the music video surpassed 10 million views and ranked in numerous iTunes charts worldwide.

2. Golden Child - "Ra Pam Pam"


Golden Child released their latest album, "GAME CHANGER," on August 2, along with the music video for the title track "Ra Pam Pam."

Lyrically, the said song talks about finding hope and determination through a difficult situation, and the title is meant to express the sound of a heartbeat.

3. ASTRO - "After Midnight"


Another boy group that made a comeback on August 2 is ASTRO with their eighth mini-album, "SWITCH ON," and the title track "After Midnight." The song is special, as the members helped write the lyrics; specifically, Cha Eun Woo participated in writing the lyrics while JinJin and Rocky worked on the raps.

Lyrically, "After Midnight" talks about spending time with the one you love all night.

4. KINDA BLUE X HWASA - "I can't make you love me"


Hwasa is solidifying herself as the "Queen of Collaborations!"

This month, Hwasa collaborated with mysterious new artist Kinda Blue in a slow, R&B track titled "I can't make you love me." The single and official music video was released on August 3. Lyrically, the song talks about someone whose loved one has left them, but they can't force them to stay.

5. Jay Park & pH-1 - "ALL IN (Prod. GroovyRoom)"


Jay Park has teamed up with H1GHER Music rapper pH-1 and producer duo GroovyRoom on the song "ALL-IN," which was released on August 3. The song was made to promote Gen G, a League of Legends esports team.

Notably, the single cover art was helped by Gen.G's executive brand ambassador Heron Preston.

According to Gen.G, the song is a labor of love for the whole team, whose favorite genre of all time is Korean hip-hop. Lyrically, "ALL IN" talks about giving something your all and that whether you win or lose, there should be no regrets.
