BTS Jimin And J-Hope, NCT Haechan And Mark, TWICE, IVE, And More Make Donations To Turkey/Syria Earthquake Relief Efforts

More celebrities have donated to aid earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria.

On February 13, Community Chest of Korea announced that NCT’s Haechan had donated 100 million won (approximately $77,800) to victims of the earthquake. His donation will primarily go towards temporary shelters and also support food kits, tents, blankets, and other heating supplies.

To the Korean Committee for UNICEF, married couple Song Yoon Ah and Sol Kyung Gu made a donation of 50 million won (approximately $39,900) and Suzy donated 100 million won (approximately $77,800). The organization’s secretary-general shared that these donations will help rebuild the futures of children in Turkey and Syria and support the mental and physical recoveries of those affected.

Various agencies also shared donations, including SM Entertainment and HYBE. SM Entertainment made out a donation of 200 million won (approximately $155,600) to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association which will help provide relief supplies and fund the reconstruction of affected areas. To NGO (non-governmental organization) Save the Children, HYBE contributed 500 million won (approximately $388,900). Save the Children plans to put this donation towards temporary shelters to protect children and other necessary items like blankets, clothing, water, food, medical supplies, and hygiene kits.

Feel GHood Music and its agency artists Tiger JK, Yoon Mi Rae, and BIBI also donated 40 million won (approximately $31,100) to NGO Doctors Without Borders.

Following a donation from JYP Entertainment, several of their agency artists have shared additional donations. According to NGO The Promise, ITZY’s Ryujin made a donation of 50 million won (approximately $39,900) that will be used to locate victims, provide emergency relief, and fund psychological support programs for victims. Fellow JYP artist TWICE donated 200 million won (approximately $155,600) to NGO Save the Children, who will use the group’s donation for temporary shelter, water, hygienic products, first aid items, and more.

On February 14, Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association shared that (G)I-DLE’s leader Jeon Soyeon had donated 20 million won (approximately $15,600) for relief supplies and reconstruction.

Together with their agency Starship Entertainment, IVE has shared a donation of 150 million won (approximately $116,700) to global children’s rights NGO Good Neighbors. The organization aims to use these funds for winter clothing, tents, sleeping bags, and other relief supplies.

After each donating 100 million won (approximately $77,800) to the Korean Committee for UNICEF, Ji Chang Wook, as well as BTS’s J-Hope and Jimin, are now members of UNICEF’s Honors Club. These donations will be used to help protect, hydrate, educate, and feed children in the affected areas.

Shortly after Haechan’s donation, his fellow NCT member Mark gave a donation of 150 million won (approximately $116,700) to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. It is said that Mark’s donation was made with a personal form and his good deed was only revealed due to the association having the verify the identities of major donors. As a result, Mark’s agency SM Entertainment was only made aware of his donation after receiving a confirmation call from the association.

To the same organization, Yoo Jae Suk donated 100 million won (approximately $77,800), while webtoon writers and YouTubers Joo Ho Min and Lee Mal Nyeon made a joint donation of 30 million won (approximately $23,400). Their donations will go towards providing emergency food aid and other relief supplies.

On February 6, two devastating earthquakes affected Turkey and Syria, with the death toll at the time of writing being over 37,000. Last week, many other Korean celebrities made donations to aid relief efforts, including NCT’s Doyoung, GOT7’s JAY B and Jinyoung, Kim Sejeong, SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups, Shin Min Ah, Park Bo Young, and more.
