BLACKPINK How You Like That Exceeds 500 million Spotify streams
YG Entertainment posted on September 13 that BLACKPINK's mega-hit song "How You Like That" exceeded 500 million streams on Spotify, the world's biggest music platform. It has been about a year and three months since it was released and it is also the first record for a K-Pop girl group.
So far, BLACKPINK has released approximately 1.7 billion songs on Spotify. Although "DDU-DU DDU-DU" was BLACKPINK's most streamed song before, "How You Like That" managed to break records at a faster pace, and it succeeded in changing its place.
Spotify is a big impact music streaming service that made an effect on US Billboard and UK official charts. The billion-dollar streaming that mostly contributed to the platform was from BLACKPINK. And among all K-Pop girl groups, they are unparalleled in popularity.
BLACKPINK's global popularity increases with Lisa's Solo Debut LALISA
BLACKPINK has grown explosively every time they release a new track, and it once again took off with Lisa's solo debut.
In reality, before and after Lisa's solo album release last September 10, the number of subscribers to BLACKPINK's YouTube channel increased from around 1.4 million to over 66.3 million now. Because of this, BLACKPINK exceeded Pop Star Justin Bieber to be the artist with the largest number of YouTube subscribers in the world.
YG Entertainment posted last September 12 that BLACKPINK Lisa's Solo debut "LALISA" surpassed 100 million views on YouTube on the same day at 2:04 PM (KST).
Lisa made another successful move as a solo artist, it is already close to the record of 100 million views - in 32 hours and 23 minutes - held by BLACKPINK's "How You Like That?" music video.
Furthermore, Lisa title song "LALISA" music video reached 100 million views in just two days, it is the shortest time for a K-Pop solo artist to achieve such a record. Prior to this, the best record among Korean male and female solo artists was made by Psy's "Gentleman" music video.
More achievements to come for BLACKPINK
BLACKPINK debut song "Whistle" exceeded 700 million views on YouTube, and other videos were also released as usual. It shows an even faster increase in the number of views, foreshadowing their new record streak one after another.
Notable results are also expected on different charts all over the world. The song "LALISA" topped the iTunes song charts in around 66 countries and it also topped the worldwide charts. Moreover, it debuted at #15 on the first day of release on Spotify, it raises more expectations for a steady popularity.
