BTS‘s Suga‘s solo work under the name Agust D has been immensely successful since he released his first self-titled mixtape in August 2016.
There was a four-year wait between his first mixtape and his second, D-2, which came out in May 2020.
Since its release, D-2 has broken many records for K-Pop soloists, such as being the first album by a Korean soloist to reach #1 on iTunes in all big music markets where iTunes was available, having the biggest opening week on Spotify for any solo artist album with over 42.9 million streams, and at the time of its release, became the highest charting and first album by a Korean soloist to enter the Top 15 on the Billboard 200 Chart (where it debuted at #11).
It has many more accomplishments besides these few, and now, Agust D can add yet another record to his already impressive list thanks to his D-2 album!
As of September 16, the mixtape became the first album by a Korean soloist to surpass 600 million streams on Spotify. He accomplished this in 847 days, or around 2 years and just under 4 months.
Here’s a look at how the album’s stream numbers rose over time at an impressively fast pace.
Congratulations to Agust D, and here’s to him making many more records in the future!
