Upcoming BTS-based Drama 'YOUTH' To Continue Filming In 2021
As a report on December 9, the filming of 'Youth' was suspended in late October. Co-producers Green Bam Media and Big Hit Entertainment told the cast that the filming was suspended so that they could adjust the names of the members in the boy's narratives and that they would resume filming after careful consultation.
However, filming failed to resume last month, and was postponed again earlier this month although the filming was scheduled to begin again. In the end, the company has decided to continue filming in January next year.
'Youth' deals with the journey to maturity of 7 precarious and immature boys. It will portray the process of the boys who are full of pains and secrets growing into precious beings, empathizing with each other's struggles.
In particular, the drama drew keen attention from the production stage as it is a drama about BTS's worldview of 'The Most Beautiful Moment in Life'. However, the revelation of the cast and character settings have raised BTS' fans' concerns. They pointed out that the characters in the play using the members' real names can confuse the public because they have experienced dark environments in the past, great wounds and traumas in their unhappy childhood.
"Their real names represent the life of each member as a human being before being a member of the group BTS," said their fan club ARMY in a statement last October. "However, the agency is using their real names for fictional characters, which will influence their lives as normal people, to pursue profits through them."
Meanwhile, 'Youth' is helmed by director Kim Jae Hong, who directed 'Your Neighbor's Wife' and 'Steal Heart', and writer Kim Soo Jin, who wrote 'The Light in Your Eyes', 'Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo', 'Awl' and 'Old Miss Diary'. The cast include Seo Ji Hoon, Noh Jong Hyun, Ahn Ji Ho, Seo Young Joo, Kim Yoon Woo, Jung Woo Jin, and Jeon Jin Seo.
