Under the TIME100 Next list, Jung Hoyeon joins the Phenoms category alongside actress Sydney SweeneyNBA player Ja Morant, TikToker Khaby Lame, tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, and singer/songwriter Finneas, among others.

Squid Game creator and director Hwang Dong Hyuk praises Jung Hoyeon, who made her acting debut with the 2021 multi-awarded action drama.

I believe Jung Ho Yeon fights fame, expectations, and jealousy daily towards her success and herself. As a joke, I occasionally call her a ‘warrior.’ You cannot doubt her skill and courage in taking on so many battles. Also, I hope her acting won’t become her battlefield but a place of rest.

— Hwang Dong Hyuk

Jung Hoyeon received other accolades for her work in Squid Game. She won “Outstanding Performance by a  Female Actor in a Drama Series” at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and “Best Actress in an Action Series” from the Critics’ Choice Super Awards.
