Lee Sung Kyung is A South Korean actress, model, and singer. She was born on August 10, 1990, and graduated from Dongkuk Women’s University on February 20, 2016. Sung Kyung began her career in 2008 as a model then eventually crossed over to acting in 2014. She became famous for her role in “Weight Lifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”.
Lee Sung Kyung: The Model
Lee Sung Kyung began her entertainment career as a model in 2008 where she competed in the local Super Model Contest. She then placed 11th and got the Lex Prize. The following year, she then joined the International Asia Pacific Super Model Contest in 2009. This time she placed 5th and also won the Unix Hair New Style Prize. Since then she became a regular in many runway shows in South Korea.
She has gained popularity as a model and as an actress making her a favorite brand ambassador. As a brand ambassador, she has endorsed for Laneige, Fresh Pop, and Adidas.

Lee Sung Kyung may be a famous model and actress but not many people recognize her as a musician. In her online profile, it was said that she can play the piano and the drums. She has also sung several soundtracks for her drama series, “About Time”. As a singer, Sung Kyung has also collaborated with several artists such as The Papers, Eddy Kim and Psy. The model-actress enjoys singing so much that she would sometime release videos of her singing in the car, at home, and in parties. She even became a guest singer in the variety shows King of Mask Singer.
A video of her and Park Hyung Sik also went viral as they did a cover of the Korean version of Trolls’ soundtrack “True Colors”.
Lee Sung Kyung: The Actress
Lee Sung Kyung debutted as an actress in 2014. As the first model-actress being promoted by the joint venture of YG Entertainment and K-plus, she played the support role, Oh So-Nyeo in “It’s Okay That’s Love”. She was then casted in a weekend drama “Flower of Queen” in 2015 where she won a “Best Actress Award” in a Special Project Drama at the MBC Drama Awards. From then on, she has starred in several drama series, “Cheese in a Trap”, “The Doctors”, “Weight Lifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”, and “About Time”.
She is so dedicated to acting that she even purposely gained weight for her role in “Weight Lifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”.
