“Useless Lies” is a mystery romance drama about a woman who can hear lies and a genius producer who is hiding his identity. Last November, Kim So Hyun and Hwang Minhyun were confirmed to play the leading roles.
Kim So Hyun will be starring as Mok Sol Hee, whose supernatural ability to hear lies has made her lose faith in other people. Mok Sol Hee considers her special power a curse, but she attempts to use it for good by becoming a “liar hunter” who searches for the truth. Hwang Minhyun is set to play the successful music producer Kim Do Ha who is hiding himself from the world due to a certain circumstance. After moving in next door to Mok Sol Hee, he gradually gains his smile back.
On May 4, it was announced that Yoon Ji On, Seo Ji Hoon, and Lee Si Woo will also be joining “Useless Lies.”
Yoon Ji On plays Jo Deuk Chan, the head of J Entertainment and the only person who knows Do Ha’s secret. He treats Do Ha like his own brother and is the one who led him to songwriting. Seo Ji Hoon will transform into police detective Lee Kang Min, Sol Hee’s first love who reunites with her after three years. Lee Si Woo is confirmed to play top solo artist Sha On who thinks of herself as Do Ha’s soulmate.
On the upcoming drama, Kim So Hyun commented, “I’m so happy and excited to work with actors and a director that I have always liked. I’m working hard on filming to show new and fun sides of myself through Mok Sol Hee, so please look forward to it.” Hwang Minhyun shared, “I’m honored and happy to take on the role of Kim Do Ha. As it is the role of a mysterious producer, I think I’ll be able to show a new side of myself. Please look forward to it.”
“Useless Lies” is directed by Nam Sung Woo of “My Roommate Is a Gumiho,” “Love In Contract,” and “Kkondae Intern” and written by Seo Jung Eun. It is set to premiere as a tvN Monday-Tuesday drama in July.
