The second season of the based-on-game series The Witcher won't be out right away but fans could be thrilled for a bit with a prequel is confirmed to be underway. We could see Henry Cavill again!
As in Netflix's announcement, the prequel tells stories that happened 1200 years before Geralt's original journey took place in the current series. The prequel has six-episode, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels that focus on supernaturally-empowered beast hunters, widely-known as Witchers.
"As a lifelong fan of fantasy, I am beyond excited to tell the story ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin," showrunner Declan de Barra revealed in a statement.
"A question has been burning in my mind ever since I first read ‘The Witcher’ books – What was the Elven world really like before the cataclysmic arrival of the humans? I’ve always been fascinated by the rise and fall of civilizations, how science, discovery and culture flourish right before that fall."
De Barra also added that "Blood Origin" will tell the tale "of the Elven civilization before its fall, and most importantly reveal the forgotten history of the very first ‘Witcher.’"
Sapkowski appears to be a “creative consultant” in charge of creating exciting plots and add more thrilling to the series.
The 72-year-old Polish fantasy author said that the show is part of an expansion to the universe that he planned from the very beginning. Therefore, his participation in the series is what he has always wanted to do and complete it with pride.
"I hope it will bring more fans to the world of my books," he said.
There are no confirmations on the cast of details about the release date yet, but it will be not so long. Let't just patiently wait.
