Dax Shepard has demanded TV bosses consider him for the role of Tiger King Joe Exotic for a new show based on the outrageous new Netflix documentary series.
Shepard insists he’s the perfect person to portray the jailed big cat expert and he took to Twitter on Wednesday (March 25, 2020) to express his interest in playing Joe.
“If I don’t get cast as Joe Exotic in the eventual biopic, Hollywood is broken,” he wrote as fans jumped online and supported his bid.
But Shepard might need to rethink his role in the Tiger King story after Edward Norton advised the actor he’d be better off playing the role of Travis Maldonado, Joe’s third husband, who died in a freak accident.
“Um, step aside, pal. You’re way too young and buff and you know it,” Norton tweeted. “You could probably pull off Maldonado still, actually. Wouldn’t that be fun?”
But Shepard isn’t backing down, insisting he is willing to shed weight, just like Christian Bale famously did for 2004 drama The Machinist.
