Dakota Johnson recently revealed she has struggled with depression since she was a teenager. And now, more than two months into her home lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fifty Shades actress is opening up about how she’s dealing with depression during quarantine, along with some tips for fans who may be going through the same thing.
''You are at home, you're not with your friends, you're not with your family, you are not able to do the things that make you feel worthwhile,'' Johnson, 30, told Extra while promoting her new film, High Note.
''You're kind of in this costume of depression but not really sure of you feel that way.''
Johnson talked about how that emotional upheaval amid the isolation can be confusing during these uncertain times. ''I think there’s also immense pain and sadness ricocheting around the world constantly,'' she said.
Some of the things Johnson has practiced while in sequester to fight off her mental health struggles include meditation, going for a walks, and ''being kind to your body and your brain and yourself,'' she revealed.
The actress also got candid about her struggles with mental health in an interview with Marie Claire magazine.
She confessed that the coronavirus pandemic has been causing her to have a lot of anxiety. ''I've struggled with depression since I was young -- since I was 15 or 14. That was when, with the help of professionals, I was like, oh, this is a thing I can fall into,'' she explained.
''But I've learned to find it beautiful because I feel the world. I have a lot of complexities, but they don't pour out of me. I don't make it anyone else's problem.'' To help fill up her days, the daughter of actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson has been doing a lot of reading and watching movies.
