And the time has come for the audience to vote for their favorite artists to be called as "Artist of the Year" at the VMA. This year has been full with new music products, so it could be hard to choose anyone for the honorable title.

Let's take a look at the nominations for the title.

1. Dababy

DaBaby's debut studio album Baby on Baby (2019) peaked at number seven on the Billboard 200 while his third studio album, Blame It on Baby (2020), became his second consecutive number-one album in the US. It also produced DaBaby's highest-charting song, "Rockstar" featuring Roddy Ricch, which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

2. Justin Bieber

Justin Drew Bieber (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actor. Discovered at age 13 by talent manager Scooter Braun after he had watched his YouTube cover song videos, Bieber was signed to RBMG Records in 2008. With Bieber's debut EP My World, released in late 2009, Bieber became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

3. Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, actress, and businesswoman. She is known for reinventing herself throughout her career and for her versatility in numerous areas of the entertainment industry.

Gaga returned to her dance-pop roots with her sixth studio album Chromatica (2020), which featured the number-one single "Rain on Me".

4. Megan Thee Stallion

In 2020, Megan Thee Stallion's single "Savage" went viral on the social media app TikTok and reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart following the release of a remix with Beyoncé. She has won two BET Awards, two BET Hip Hop Awards, a MTV Video Music Award, and a Billboard Women in Music Award.

5. Post Malone

In August 2020, Post Malone became the first-ever solo artist to top both the Billboard Rap Airplay and Adult Contemporary charts as a lead artist when "Circles" reached number one on the latter, with "Rockstar" having reached number on the former in 2017. Malone has received a Diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for "Congratulations".

6. The Weeknd

The Weeknd has won three Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, nine Juno Awards, and has been nominated for an Academy Award. He holds several chart records, being the first artist to simultaneously hold the top three positions on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart with "Can't Feel My Face", "Earned It", and "The Hills".
