Harry Styles hopes the coronavirus lockdown has a positive impact on the planet by encouraging people to take climate change more seriously.

Since the COVID-19 crisis was declared a pandemic last month (March 2020), people have been following the advice of World Health Organization officials to stay indoors – with scientists predicting the lockdown could trigger the biggest fall in global carbon dioxide emissions since the Second World War.

Speaking to host Olivia Jones on the U.K.’s Total Access radio show on Sunday (April 5, 2020), Falling hitmaker Harry seemed to concur with the evidence and admitted he’s hopeful it inspires people to take better care of the world.

It kind of feels like we’ve all been grounded (and) Mother Nature’s sent us all to our rooms to think about what we’ve done,” he mused. “It’s insane… I think there’s going to be a crazy study afterwards about the climate so I think it might end up being a silver lining."

Sign of the Times star Harry, 26, is currently in Los Angeles, after his flights back to the U.K. were canceled as the U.S. went into lockdown.

I kind of got stuck here in California. I was supposed to board a flight home, but on that exact day, the U.S. decided to cancel all flights, so I just had to stay here,” he recently told host Roman Kemp on Britain’s Capital Breakfast radio show.

The pandemic also resulted in Harry’s Love on Tour jaunt being pushed back to 2021, with the former One Direction star admitting: “I’m really sad that I have to cancel it. I was really looking forward to coming home and spending some time with my mum and sister, and my family, but it’s for the best.
